Telangana Pro Basketball League: Player Auction Generates Over ₹7.05 Lakh in Bids
The league’s six franchises battled for top talent as the season one rosters were finalised.
Hyderabad, India – The Telangana Pro Basketball League (TPBL), India’s newest state-level professional basketball competition, has successfully completed its first season’s player auction, with all six teams having finalised their squads.
Earlier this month, the TPBL completed its team auction, selling all six franchises for a combined ₹1.27 crore, signalling strong commercial interest and confidence in the league’s vision. With teams locked in, the next major step was the much-anticipated player auction, held on November 16, 2025.
Top 5 Highest-Valued Players
The TPBL conducted the auction at the Marriott Hotel, Hyderabad. Each of the six franchises was allotted a ₹5,00,000 player purse. Franchise owners, coaches, and players participated in the spirited bidding process, highlighting the growing ambition around professional basketball in Telangana.
The top five most valued players were:
Akash Kumar – Sold to Hyderabad Honey Badgers for ₹2.5 Lakhs
Harish Nama – Sold to Nizam Badshahs for ₹1.35 Lakhs
Kaushik Alapati – Sold to Warangal Warriors for ₹1.25 Lakhs
Subash K – Sold to Khammam Titans for ₹1,05,000
Ajith Kumar – Sold to Medchal Mavericks for ₹90,000
The six teams confirmed for TPBL Season 1 are the Hyderabad Honey Badgers, Nizam Badshahs from Nizamabad, Warangal Warriors, Medchal Mavericks, Khammam Titans, and Karimnagar Kings, representing key basketball hubs across Telangana.
As the countdown to Season 1 begins, the auction results have set the tone for a competitive, commercially viable league that hopes to reshape hoops development across the state.
