Telangana Pro Basketball League Completes Franchise Auction Ahead of Inaugural Season
Six teams sold for a total of ₹1.27 crore as the state gears up for its first professional basketball league.
Hyderabad, India – The Telangana Pro Basketball League (TPBL) has successfully concluded its team auction, selling all six franchises for a combined value of ₹1.27 crore. This marks a significant leap forward for pro-level basketball in the state.
The auction was held on November 9, 2025, at the JW Marriott, Secunderabad, where ten groups and owners participated in a competitive bidding process for the six available franchises. The base price for each team was ₹10 lakh, with bids proceeding in increments of ₹50,000 only.
Six Franchise Ownership Breakdown:
Hyderabad Hawks – Deepthi Akki / N Sports Pvt Ltd – ₹27.5 Lakhs
Ranga Reddy Rhinos – Srujana / Destiny World – ₹26 Lakhs
Karimnagar Kings – Avinash & Raghuveer / Fitbee – ₹20 Lakhs
Warangal Warriors – Dr. Chandrashekar / Sowbhagya Bharti – ₹18.5 Lakhs
Nizamabad Nawabs – Laxmi Motors – ₹18 Lakhs
Khammam Titans – Charan / SCL Infratech – ₹16.5 Lakhs
Each franchise has been awarded ownership rights for a period of four years, with the annual franchise fee set equal to the bid amount, subject to a 5% yearly increase.
Teams will next turn their attention to roster building, as the Player Auction is scheduled for November 16, 2025. Each franchise will receive a Player Auction Purse to bid for top players from across Telangana.
To prepare for the auction, tryouts will be held from November 11 to 14, 2025, at Dream Basketball Academy in Hyderabad, where players will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and earn a spot in the auction pool.
A. Prudvishwar Reddy, General Secretary of the Telangana Basketball Association and a former Indian national team player, is the architect behind the TPBL. Drawing inspiration from international professional leagues, Reddy aims to boost grassroots basketball in Telangana and provide a structured, professional pathway for young players.
With local talent taking center stage in the pre-season and big signings on the horizon, the Telangana Pro Basketball League is poised to become one of the most exciting new developments in Indian basketball. Notably, it is only the second official state league in India, after Mizoram’s Super League.
