Telangana Pro Basketball League Pre-Season Set for Tip-Off in Hyderabad
TPBL will be India's only second ever official ‘State League’ after Mizoram’s Super League.
Hyderabad, India – The Telangana Basketball Association is set to host the Telangana Pro Basketball League Pre-Season from 3rd to 6th July 2025 at the KVBR Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad. Featuring six city-based franchises, this pre-season will play a crucial role in building toward the league’s official launch in August 2025.

A press conference held on 25th June at the Marriott Hotel, Hyderabad, saw the announcement of each team’s franchise player. These marquee signings will lead their respective squads during the pre-season and help shape team strategies and chemistry.

This pre-season tournament will be a key evaluation platform for team management and league organizers. It will directly influence the official player draft for the full league season in August, where inter-state and international players are expected to be added to the rosters, raising the bar for competition and visibility.
Pioneering League
A. Prudvishwar Reddy, General Secretary of the Telangana Basketball Association and a former Indian national team player, has initiated the Telangana Pro League to boost grassroots basketball in the state, inspired by professional leagues in Europe and America that he observed during his playing career.
“This league will be a pioneer for Telangana basketball and will help elevate the state team’s performance in national championships,” Mr Reddy said.
With local talent taking center stage in the pre-season and big signings on the horizon, the Telangana Pro Basketball League is gearing up to become one of the most exciting new developments in Indian basketball, and only the second ever official ‘State League’ after Mizoram’s Super League.
