South Asian U16 Basketball: Indian Rosters Announced
Both the boys and girls championships will be held simultaneously in Maldives from June 12 to 15, with the winning teams progressing to the continental events later this year
With spots in the forthcoming Asian Championships up for grabs, the Indian U16 boys and girls will be raring to continue their dominance in the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Qualifiers, to be held in Maldives from June 12 to 15.
Indian U16 Girls Back In Action After Three Years
While the Indian U16 boys will look to retain their SABA crown from 2023, the U16 girls will be seen in action after a gap of three years, having been forced to skip the previous edition of the Asian Championship.
When it comes to the girls’ category, there was the additional complication of the controversial ‘first-come-first-serve’ rule - that applies in case of non-conduct of regional qualifiers.
Thankfully, this year’s SABA Qualifiers also includes a girls category, giving the India an overwhelmingly high chance of qualifying to Division B of the FIBA U16 Women’s Asia Cup 2025 later this year.
