eFIBA: India's forgettable NBA 2K debut
Kolkata based Team LGN lost all its four matches by an average margin of almost 140 points
India got a brutal introduction to the world of international competitive NBA 2K gaming - getting mauled by its South East Asian opponents in the eFIBA Season 2 Regional Qualifiers.
Kolkata-based Team LGN is representing India in its eFIBA debut (India had not participated in the inaugural edition earlier this year).
Facing off against Mongolia in its opening game yesterday, India lost 34-135. You would think it couldn’t get worse from there, but India followed that up with beat-downs of 22-156 (Singapore), 35-190 (Indonesia) and 52-221 (Philippines).
Record-breaking losses
It is believed that two of India’s losses - against Indonesia and Philippines - have the dubious distinction of being record-breaking in terms of the highest scores registered by an opponent. (The previous best is reported to be a 180-point performance by USA last week.)
No doubt this is a big learning experience for the Indian team - which comprises players primarily focused on FIFA gaming.
That said, India will have to pull its socks up to improve its performance in time for the second and final round of the Qualifiers on November 2.
