Following last week’s letter asking States to nominate players for selection tryouts to Basketball Federation of India (BFI)’s upcoming National Basketball Academies, additional clarity has emerged on the shortlisting criteria.
Based on circulars posted by the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association (TNBA) and Andhra Pradesh Basketball Association (APBA), it appears that a minimum height requirement of 185 cms (6ft 1”) has been set for both boys and girls - in order to be eligible for nomination.
15 year olds now eligible
Additionally, while in the earlier circular issued by Basketball Federation of India, the Date of Birth cut off was players “born on or after January 1, 2012, or January 1, 2013”, the latest circulars posted by TNBA and APBA mentioned the age cut off date as players born on or after January 1 2009.
Deadline
While in the case of Andhra Pradesh, affliated districts within the State have been asked to share player details on a “most urgent” basis within two days i.e. by April 28, in the case of Tamil Nadu, the deadline has been set for May 11.
Going by both these cases, it appears that the original deadline of April 25 set by BFI for States to nominate their players has been relaxed.
How to apply?
Since all nominations can be submitted only through BFI/State Association’s affiliated units, players/parents/coaches interested in submitting nominations must contact their respective State/District Associations. The contact details of all the Affiliated State Units can be accessed via the BFI website.

It's very bad about height constraint... It should be on basis of talent , not height.
eg in Youth national I have seen a girl from Tamilnadu having height of 5ft 4 inch got the Most Valuable player of the tournament
