3x3 Basketball U18 World Cup: India Women's team to participate
Surprisingly, the Indian Men's team has not qualified, despite being higher ranked and also having made history by winning the silver medal at the 2022 U17 Asia Cup.
In unexpectedly good news for the Indian women’s basketball program - after having been forced to miss back-to-back continental championships, the U18 team is poised to compete in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2024, to be held in Debrecen, Hungary from August 26 to 30.
India in Pool C
The Indian team, seeded 11th, is placed in Pool C, alongside Kyrgyzstan (#3), Japan (#6), China (#14) and Uganda (#19).
Overall 20 teams each are participating in the women’s and men’s section, divided into 4 pools of 5 teams each.
Within each pool, all teams will play each other once, following which, the top two teams will progress to the quarterfinals.
India’s Games Schedule (IST timings)

27 August, 12:05 am vs Uganda
28 August, 9:30 am vs Kyrgyzstan

Indian Team Roster
At the time of publishing this report, India’s roster details were still awaited.
No Indian Men this time
Surprisingly, the Indian U18 Men's team has not qualified, despite being higher ranked than their women's counterparts. While the Indian U18 women are ranked 52nd in the world and 14th in Asia, the Indian U18 Men are 47th in the world, and 11th in Asia.
The outgoing Indian U18 Men’s team had also famously made history by winning the silver medal at the 2022 U17 3x3 Asia Cup and qualifying for the previous U18 3x3 World Cup.
In the men’s section, South Asia will instead be represented by Sri Lanka.
