West Bengal Basketball Team travels to Bangladesh for friendly matches

The West Bengal state team recently went to Bangladesh for a friendly invitational tournament. During their three-day stay at Bangladesh, from 10th to 12th of September, the West Bengal women played three matches in Dhaka and Chittagong. Mr. Tirthys Guha coached the team and the West Bengal Basketball Association secretary Mr. Gautam Ganguly accompanied the squad to Bangladesh.
They played their first two matches against the Bangladesh national team and pulled off huge wins. They defeated the Bangladesh side in their first match with a 13-point margin (Score: 42-29) and comfortably cruised past the Bangladesh team with an easy win in the second match. (Score: 52-34). The West Bengal squad played their third match in Chittagong against a local school team with a number of international players. They defeated the school team in a 44-33 match.

Priyanka Kumari captained the West Bengal team and played a key role in all the three wins as one of the highest scorers. “It was the first team we played overseas. It was a wonderful experience and we hope to get more such opportunities in the future.” Said Paulami Chatterjee, the leading power forward and center of the West Bengal squad.
