Rajasthan Youth Basketball: Maharaja Hanwant Singh Tourney from Dec 23rd
Organised by Mayoor Chopasni School in collaboration with Dribble Academy, the Maharaja Hanwant Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament will be four-day competition for U14 boys in Jodhpur.
Jodhpur, Rajasthan, 22 December: The Blue City of Rajasthan is gearing up to host an exciting basketball championship for U14 boys in a league format.
Organized by Mayoor Chopasni School in collaboration with Dribble Academy, the Maharaja Hanwant Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament aims to promote basketball in a region deeply connected to the sport, which is also the state’s official game.
Rajasthan has produced numerous players who’ve represented India internationally. However, as per the organizers, a lack of structured tournaments has hindered local talent. This initiative seeks to fill that gap and pave the way for early talent identification. This invitational tournament will serve as a platform to scout and identify athletes for district and state teams.
Mayoor Chopasni School to Host
The participating teams are Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Pali, Nagaur, Sirohi, Rajsamand, Barmer, Jalore and Jaisalmer.
Mr Sharad Tiwari, Principal, Mayoor Chopasni School, addressing how this league can uplift basketball in Rajasthan, said:
“The tournament will facilitate early talent identification, and with support from the Rajasthan Basketball Association, we hope to conduct multiple national camps at our school and establish a high-performance basketball academy.”
Dribble Academy's Role
Founded in 2016 by acclaimed coach and skill development expert Pradyot Voleti, Dribble Academy began with a humble setup in Gejha, Noida.
Over the years, it has grown into a beacon of basketball excellence, setting up its first High-Performance Centre at Mayoor Chopasni School, Jodhpur. The facility, spanning a 100-acre campus, provides professional training with great infrastructure.
Lack of scouting reports and video analysis often limits athletes’ prospects abroad. Speaking about the league’s role in addressing this challenge, Voleti said:
“Mayoor Chopasni School, renowned for its academic excellence and sports infrastructure, is offering full scholarships to talented players from across the country. This initiative will create pathways for young athletes to secure opportunities internationally.”
