Thrissur, 26th January: On the 26th January at 12 noon the coaches of the Kerala State Sports Council assembled at the Hotel Merlin in Thrissur to bid farewell to their fellow coach P C Antony, who will be retiring from Kerala State Sports Council officially on January 31st 2016, after a successful 16 years of Service.
He was at the function along with his wife Shiny U.P who is working at Co-operative Bank in Thrissur and their two sons, the elder one Aslin Antony doing his 1st year B.A. and younger one is the Abhishek Antony who is in 6th standard in Chaldean Syrian Higher Secondary School, Thrissur.
The prominent coaches who attended includes P J Sebastiaan a State Sports Council who was the assistant coach at Asia's biggest Men's basketball tournament - the FIBA Asia Championship in Changhsa, China – were India ended the tournament with something to smile about. India made the quarter-final stage for the first time after 2003 and finished at an encouraging 8th place, other International Coaches Prem Kumar who took Indian women Gold in 3on3 competition couple of years back, Dimal C Mathew who went with Senior Indian women team at the Asian Championship.
Antony Stephan the coach who took Kerala women to the final after 15 years last month and also first ever Gold in National Games held last year at Kannur along with other coaches of Kerala State Sports Council Jose Philip (Mar Ivanios College) who was instrumental in bringing Kerala University me in to the All India final round , Thomas Chandy (Assumption College) , Cigi (Providence College) Praveen (St Josephs Alapuzha) Vijayan (Centralised Sports Hostel Manjeri)Johnson (Giriddepam) Reji Alex (St Josephs Pulicunnu) and Jijo Paul from kerala Varma College.

About P C Antony
P C Antony who hails from Thrissur and now working with Kerala State Sports Council as Coach at St Josephs College Irinjalakuda will be one of the luckiest coaches to retire from service on a winning note as he was able to bring Kozhikode University women the All India Title after a gap of 12 years. He was one of the three coaches in Kerala State who is having a certification of FIBA level II and also a BFI- A panel Referee another feather added to his cap in the retiring year was the Bronze medal for Kerala in the recently concluded youth National Championships at Ludhiana Punjab 2015.
He also served India as the Head coach for the Indian U 19 junior women team that participated in the Asian Championship in Jordan 2014 and also as the assistant coach with the Indian Boys U 18 team in 2002 at the Asian Basketball Championship apart from the several national Championships for Kerala as coach, he also was lucky to work with the FIBA coach Zoran Sorch at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games Preparatory camp for Men.
As a player he also represented the Kerala junior team & Calicut University in 1979, and also played for Madhya Pradesh and represented Southern Command in Services championships. His studentsinclude Internationals Haressh Koroth (IOB), Eudric Perera Manoj & Vivek (Customs), Smithin Sethu(Services) in Men while in Women has Rollin Sara Kuruvilla (MTNL), Sharmily Mathew, Jilna Jose(Railways).
