Mysore Challengers Cup: Kumaraguru, Sahrdaya, Jain and CMR Colleges Advance to Semis
The second day of the Challengers Cup on 21 December witnessed close battles on the court of the National Sports Club, the heritage hub of Mysore Basketball.
Mysuru, Karnataka, 22 December 2024: The second day of the Challengers Cup on 21 December witnessed close battles on the court of the National Sports Club, the heritage hub of Mysore Basketball.
The 3rd All-India Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament, hosted by Challenger’s Academy in affiliation with the Mysuru District Basketball Association (MDBBA), is underway, featuring the top men’s college teams across South India.
In the opening game, Kumaraguru Institutions (Coimbatore) opened with a commanding 63-31 win over CMR University (Bengaluru), fueled by strong zone defense and swift ball movement. In Game 2, Jain University (Bengaluru) beat Talents College (Mysuru) 55-44, showcasing a potent offense and tight defense.
Sahrdaya College (Thrissur) dominated NIE College (Mysuru) 50-33 with stifling defense and efficient scoring. Returning for their second game towards the end of the morning session, Kumaraguru edged Royal College (Mettur) 71-69 in a thrilling finish, clinching Pool B's top spot.
In the evening, Royal College (Mettur) crushed JSS University (Mysuru) 62-31, while Talents College (Mysuru) defeated NIE (Mysuru) 37-31 in a match played for pride.
Later, Sahrdaya stunned favorites Jain University 51-47 to secure Pool A's top spot after a dramatic comeback. Finally, CMR University secured the last knockout spot from Pool B, beating Royal College 63-44 with stellar defense and rebounding.
