MARQUIS 2016 South India Basketball Title for St Ephremes & Girideepam Bethany

Changancherry, 29th September, 2016: St Ephremes HSS Mannanm defeated St Josephs HSS Pulicunnu 51-23 in the boys section to take their 7th Title this season while Girideepam Bethany girls, Kottayam beat St Josephs GHS Alapuzha 41-15 in the Finals of the MARQUIS 2016 South India Inter School Basketball Tournament here at Mary RAni Public School.

In the finals, St Ephremes, HSS, after leading 31-14 at half time came out to beat St Josephs HSS Pulicunnu 51-23 with Muhammed Shiras being the leading scorer, with 19 points for the winners. Abhinandu scored 10 for Pulicunnu, the second best sports hostel, which was now handicapped by the absence of a coach from State Sports Council.

Girideepam Bethanny had a safe final, as they beat St Josephs GHS, Alapuzha, after leading 31-17 at the interval.

The closing function was presided by P J Sunny, Chairman of the Selection committee and Sunny Jacob of Idammanil Kal Jewelers distributed the Prizes.
