Maharashtra Basketball Teams Probables Announced

Selection trials for the men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming 73rd Senior National Basketball Championship concluded yesterday at Indian Gymkhana, Matunga, Mumbai.

Selection trials for the Maharashtra State men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming 73rd Senior National Basketball Championship concluded yesterday at Indian Gymkhana, Matunga, Mumbai.

With an ongoing dispute between two factions in Maharashtra, Basketball Federation of India (BFI) led committee had appointed Abdul Hamid Khan – Ex International Player and Indian Coach, Arnika Gujar Patil – Ex International Player and Coach, Sambhaji Kadam – Ex International Player and Coach, Gurudutt Nayak – Ex-National Player and Coach and Dr Jamir Sayyed – National Level Coach and Director of Sports - S K Gandhi College (Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University) as selectors.

The selectors picked the probables from the 78 players in the men’s category and 48 players in the women’s category from various districts of Maharashtra who participated in the trials.

Women: Pooja Doshi (Dhule Dist.); Shivani Prashant Bagadi (Kolhapur); Sakshi Pandey (Mumbai South East); Ameesha Jose (Mumbai South East); Vaishali Singh (Mumbai South West); Anshika Dinesh Kanojia (Mumbai North); Shomira Bidaye (Nagpur); Mansi Yogesh Nirmalkar (Pune); Aanaya Rajesh Bhavsar (Pune); Arya Bharat Riswadkar (Pune); Durga Alhad Dharmadhikari (Pune); Avisha Vikas Gurav (Satara); Sanika Phule (Kolhapur); Aruja Kamble (Solapur); Suzanne Pinto (Mumbai North); Siya Deodhar (Nagpur)

A preparatory camp will be held in Mumbai from November 18th to December 1st 2023. The final 12 players who will represent the state in the Senior National Championship will be selected from these probables based on their performance in the camp.
