LOS ANGELES LAKERS CHAMPION AND FORMER NBA HEAD COACH BRIAN SHAW TO VISIT INDIA TO PROMOTE BASKETBALL
– Shaw will Engage with Finalists of the ACG-NBA Jump National Finals in Noida –
– The Former Laker will also visit Jaipur and Mumbai to Attend the Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA City Finals and NBA Jam powered by Jabong Respectively -
NBA Champion and former Head Coach Brian Shaw will visit India to tip off NBA’s premier events: ACG-NBA Jump National Finals in Noida, Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA City Finals in Jaipur and NBA Jam powered by Jabong in Mumbai.
Shaw will make his first stop in Noida on Feb. 24 where he will share personal drills and training techniques with participants of the national finals of ACG-NBA Jump, India’s first national basketball talent search program, at Jaypee Greens, Noida. The national finals, from February 22-25, 2016, marks the culmination of the 5-month program that took place across six regions including Delhi, Ludhiana, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
From Noida, Shaw will travel to Jaipur on Feb. 26, 2016 where he will share tips with students at the St. Edmunds School, as part of the Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA program, a comprehensive youth basketball initiative that applies the values of basketball to positively impact the lives of Indian boys and girls. Shaw will then travel to Mumbai on Feb. 27 to engage the youth of Mumbai at NBA Jam powered by Jabong at the K. J. Somaiya College, where fans will have the chance to meet with Shaw, win NBA merchandise, and experience lifestyle elements including interactive games, contests and live music performances. Shaw will conclude his India visit with a live television appearance on Sony SIX’s NBA morning show “Around the Hoop” on Feb. 28.
Over 14 years in the NBA, Shaw played for seven different teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won three consecutive NBA Championships from 2000 to 2002. Following his retirement as a player, Shaw joined the coaching staff of Lakers head coach and Hall of Famer Phil Jackson, where he won two more Championships (2009, 2010). Shaw joined the Indiana Pacers as an assistant coach in 2011 before being named head coach of the Denver Nuggets in 2013.
