Indian hooper to play in Australian League
Mumbai lad Samson Sandhu, a former junior India player, has signed a pro contract in the 'Big V' League with the Southern Peninsula Sharks
Quietly, and without fuss, point guard Samson Sandhu continues to break glass ceilings.
In a much-needed positive development for Indian basketball players seeking to become international pros, the 27-year-old Sandhu is officially on-board with the Southern Peninsula Sharks.
Sharks are a Melbourne based team in Australia’s ‘Big V’ League - a semi-professional provincial league in the state of Victoria. The ‘Big V’ is a Division II League, behind only the premier NBL.
This is the third straight year that Sandhu will be competing in Big V - having previously suited up for the Sharks in 2022, followed by a stint with Western Port Steelers. But what makes this year’s signing truly special is that Sandhu will actually get paid to play by Sharks - a clear indication of the value his franchise sees in him.
Sandhu’s latest contract is valid from March to August 2024 and we wish him the very best in the next phase of his professional journey.
