Establishing India’s Premier Residential Basketball Academy: ACG Sports Invites Partnership Proposals
ACG Sports is inviting visionary institutions, educational campuses, and qualified infrastructure partners to collaborate on building what could become Asia’s leading centre of basketball excellence.
April 2025 — Mumbai, India: ACG Sports Private Limited - Basketball Federation of India’s official pro basketball league organizing partner - has launched an ambitious new initiative aimed at transforming the Indian basketball landscape by establishing a world-class residential academy.
In an official Request for Proposal (RFP) issued this month, ACG Sports is inviting visionary institutions, educational campuses, and qualified infrastructure partners to collaborate on building what could become Asia’s leading centre of basketball excellence.
This strategic partnership opportunity is unlike conventional sports tie-ups. It promises a long-term alliance that blends elite training, global best practices, sports science, and academic integration—all under one roof. The end goal: to create a high-performance residential basketball academy that nurtures the next generation of Indian and international basketball stars.
A Vision Beyond the Court
The RFP outlines a multi-pronged strategy aimed at elevating Indian basketball to global standards. At the heart of this vision is an elite basketball development pathway, with the academy positioned as an official feeder for India’s professional basketball league. Annual scouting programs, led by NBA-experienced coaches and FIBA-certified trainers, will ensure the continuous grooming of top-tier talent. The initiative also aims to foster a strong student-athlete pipeline through structured recruitment and academic coordination.
“This isn’t just about basketball—it’s about building a sustainable ecosystem for sports excellence in India,” said an ACG Sports spokesperson. “We’re looking for a partner who shares our ambition to transform sports education through innovation, infrastructure, and impact.”
Game-Changing Infrastructure and Investment
ACG Sports is committed to significant infrastructure investments. The proposed academy will be equipped with the latest sports technologies, including motion sensors, wearables, and AI-powered video analytics. Training programs will be guided by international coaching methodologies and performance systems, ensuring athletes receive world-class mentorship and support.
In addition, the campus is expected to evolve into a landmark basketball destination capable of hosting global basketball legends, talent scouts, and marquee events—thereby establishing itself as a globally recognized hub for the sport.
What ACG is Looking For
Potential partners must offer residential capacity for 25 to 50 athletes and 10 staff in the first year, with scalability to 100+ athletes over time. The facility should provide top-notch amenities such as athlete nutrition-focused dining, full-service laundry, climate-controlled indoor courts (minimum 8 hours/day), and strength and conditioning infrastructure including a gym and swimming pool.
In recognition of the holistic needs of high-performance athletes, mental health programming, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and mindfulness activities are also highlighted as essential features. Flexible classroom setups, access to AV-equipped meeting spaces, and infrastructure readiness for large-scale events and academic collaborations round out the comprehensive requirements.
Optional facilities, such as private dining areas, on-site sports science labs, and global exchange program tie-ups, will enhance a proposal’s appeal.
ACG’s Commitments to the Partnership
The selected partner will benefit from ACG Sports' full-spectrum support and financial commitment. This includes the recruitment of internationally credentialed coaches—ranging from NBA and NCAA alumni to FIBA-certified trainers—as well as administrative and HR personnel to manage the academy's day-to-day operations.
ACG will fully fund all staff salaries and athlete-related expenses. The curriculum will be customized for Indian athletes, with a strong emphasis on analytics, strength training, and holistic development. Furthermore, the academy will play a pivotal role in coach upskilling and capacity building through certified courses and international exposure programs.
A target of enrolling up to 50 athletes per year into academic programs is also part of the strategic plan, highlighting the initiative’s emphasis on combining athletic and academic excellence.
How to Apply
Institutions interested in submitting their proposals are required to include a comprehensive overview of their campus and existing infrastructure, prior experience with sports or residential programs, scalability potential, and alignment with ACG’s long-term vision. A detailed pricing structure and annual cost breakdown are also necessary.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 30th April, 2025, and applications must be sent via email to Rahul.jha@acg-world.com with the subject line: RFP Response – Strategic Partnership for Residential Basketball Academy.
A Call to Action
With this RFP, ACG Sports is laying the groundwork for what could become one of the most prestigious basketball academies in Asia. The message is clear: India’s moment on the global basketball stage is coming, and ACG wants to build the foundation—with the right partner.
“This is an invitation to be part of something iconic,” the spokesperson added. “Together, we can create a home for sports excellence that inspires generations of athletes, coaches, and educators.”
