Sports is really such a beautiful thing. Like music, sports has the wonderful power to unite people across different regions, languages, genders, age and economic differences. It truly embodies the best of what humanity has to offer to itself. It teaches wonderful values in an age when qualities like honesty, integrity and team spirit are not thought of highly and in fact shunned in preference to success, connivance and shrewdness to get to the top of the social ladder.
I am not a big football fan. In fact I don’t understand the game in the first place. But I found this video absolutely abhorrent and dastardly. This video is not about football. If sports in India today has to suffer such pitiable circumstances, if players today have to clean the dirt off other people’s posterior to buy a pair of football studs, then I really don’t know what to say.
Sure, all work is God’s work. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Blah blah..thats all good. But this really is just not acceptable.
Highlight of the video: AIFF President Praful Patel passing the buck onto the State Authorities. However justified he may be in doing so(the players were after all state players), the fact remains that such a response is not in good taste and speaks poorly of the person holding the reins of the country’s football future in his hands.
