FIBA West Asia Super League 'Final 8': Team 'Tamil Nadu' to represent India
The top two teams will progress to the inaugural Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) which will be played from June 9-15, 2024 in Dubai.
The ‘Final 8’ leg of the West Asia Super League will see India’s reigning national champions, Tamil Nadu, participate.
The event will be held from May 25 to June 1 at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall in Doha, Qatar.
While India’s roster is still to be announced, the games schedule has been released.
India’s Games Schedule
India has been placed alongside Kuwait Club, Shahrdary Gorgan (Iran) and Kazma (Kuwait) in Group B. Meanwhile, Group A comprises the remaining 4 teams of Al Riyadi (Beirut, Lebanon), Manama (Bahrain), C.S. Sagesse (Beirut, Lebanon) and BC Astana (Kazakhstan).
May 25, vs Kuwait Club at 5:30pm IST
May 26, vs Shahrdary Gorgan at 5:30pm IST
May 28, vs Kazma at 8:30pm IST
The top two teams from each group will proceed to the knockouts.
The two finalists will thereafter progress to the inaugural Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) which will be played from June 9-15, 2024 in Dubai.

Second time’s the charm
India’s formerly-BFI-backed INBL winning team ‘Chennai Heat’ was scheduled to compete last year as well, but was forced to withdraw following what FIBA termed as “recent challenges being faced by the basketball family in India” - alluding to the then ongoing legal and administrative battle to head the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
