FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup: India's Schedule & Watch Details
The Indian U18 Men's team repeated history by qualifying to the 3x3 World Cup that tips off on August 30 in Hungary. Here's India's team roster and competition schedule.
Last year, India finished runners-up in the FIBA 3x3 U17 Asia Cup. While we may not have won the coveted gold, the silver medal allowed India to qualify for this year’s World Cup.
In a nation starved of basketball success at the continental, let alone, global level, India’s performance was a morale booster like no other.
The inspired and exciting play of the NBA Academy India trained - Kushal Singh, Harsh Dagar, Lokendra Singh and Jaideep Rathore - brought with it, the vision of a new ‘Big Four’ for India.
The FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup 2023 will be held in Debrecen, Hungary from August 30 to September 3.
India’s Pool
India is in Pool D alongside Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Israel. The top two teams from this Pool will progress to the quarterfinals.
At #13, India is the second lowest-ranked team in the Pool, ahead of only Israel (#13). Ukraine is slightly ahead of India at #12, while Kyrgyzstan and Latvia are well ahead at #5 and #4 respectively.
In other words, India is expected to have the going tough, right from the Pool stages. Facing higher ranked and expectedly taller and more physical opponents from Europe, just progressing to the knockout stages will be an accomplishment.
