Singapore, March 28, 2025: India delivered a strong performance on Day 3 of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2025, cementing their spot in the quarterfinals with a hard-fought victory over Chinese Taipei, followed by a narrow defeat to China. They will now take on New Zealand in the quarterfinals.
This is the Indian men’s team’s first trip to the quarterfinals since the 2013 edition.
India bt Chinese Taipei 21-18
India started off day three with a determined 21-18 victory against a resilient Chinese Taipei side. Arvind Kumar Muthukrishnan emerged as the game-changer when the team most needed it, delivering a standout performance with nine points and four rebounds. His drive-ins and ability to finish in traffic proved vital in fending the Chinese Taipei team. The Indian cagers utilized their trademark speed and quick ball movement to close out the game successfully, clinching their first win of the day.
China Edges India in Nail-Biting Finish
In their second match of the day, India faced a well-drilled Chinese team, with Muthukrishnan once again being the star of the show.

Unfortunately for India, China’s defensive game slowed down India’s typically fast-paced attack. Despite a very close-fought battle, which almost went to overtime, China scored a two-pointer in the last seconds to grab a 21-19 win. While India showed resilience throughout the game, China’s disciplined defense countered India’s speed.
New Zealand Awaits
Despite the loss to China, India’s earlier win over Chinese Taipei ensured their progression to the quarterfinals. The team will now face the winner of Pool D i.e. New Zealand. With their fast-paced style of play, India will look to outmaneuver the taller Kiwi lineup and book a spot in the semifinals.
