BFI Elections: Which States' Candidates have been declared 'invalid'?
Mr Aadhav Arjuna's nomination for BFI President was declared 'invalid'.
The 16 nominations that have been removed from the originally submitted list notably include States like Tamil Nadu (Mr Aadhav Arjuna - in pic - who filed his nomination for President) and Madhya Pradesh (Mr Kulwinder Singh Gill who had filed his nomination for Secretary General), besides Meghalaya, Mizoram, Telangana, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Puducherry, Nagaland and Manipur.
The 12 nominations that have been declared 'valid' are from the following States: notably Karnataka (Mr K Govindaraj who filed his nomination for President) and Rajasthan (Mr Ajeet Singh Rathore for Secretary General), besides Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and Haryana.
In the list of validly nominated candidates published on the BFI website, no reasons were given as to why these nominations were 'invalid'. At the time of writing this report, it is unclear if these reasons have been communicated separately to the affected candidates.
BFI Elections: What's next?
From the above mentioned list of 12 validly nominated candidates, the final list of contesting candidates will be published on 13th February, giving a two-day window for withdrawal of candidature. Thereafter, the BFI Elections will be conducted on 18th February.
For the candidates whose nominations were declared "invalid", it appears their only option now is to seek legal redressal.
