Bengaluru based Basketball Tech Startup 'PocketCoach' lands seven-figure investment
The company, co-founded by an NBA Academy graduate, has developed an app that gamifies basketball and fitness training, using just the phone camera.
Bengaluru – PocketCoach, a sports technology startup developing mobile-based basketball and fitness training tools, has raised a 7-figure investment through multiple government and institutional channels.
The company is incubated at NSRCEL, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, and has received funding under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS) through IIM Bangalore.
In addition, PocketCoach was selected as one of 101 recipients of the Elevate Startup Grant by the Government of Karnataka, following a four-month evaluation process that included application screening, live demos, and pitching rounds.
What’s PocketCoach?
PocketCoach's app uses a smartphone camera to track and analyze basketball training sessions without requiring any additional hardware. It records and displays core performance metrics such as shooting accuracy (FG%, 3P%, FT%), court zone heatmaps, and shot mechanics including ball arc and release angle. Users receive session-based feedback, performance trends, and progress tracking. The app also includes features that allow players to set goals, complete challenges, and track improvements over time.
The founding team consists of three computer science graduates from PES University Bengaluru, with sports backgrounds: Achintya, a former NBA Academy athlete and Karnataka state basketball player; Omkar, a former youth-level football player; and Anup, a competitive table tennis player from Karnataka. Together, they bring a combination of technical expertise and playing experience to the development of the product.
Download the app on Android and iOS.
