Bagar Bulls and Shekhawati Riders set up mouth watering title clash
While Bulls beat Godwar Hawks 58-77 in the semis, Riders cruised past Hadoti Tigers 64-32.
On an evening marred by rain interruptions thanks to Cyclone Biparjoy, Bagar Bulls kept their energy levels up, to enter the men's finals of the Rajasthan Basketball League. Earlier on, Shekhawati Riders were untroubled against Hadoti Tigers to secure their spot in the championship game.
The morning began with dramatic news of a three-way tie between the top three men’s teams: 1) Shekhawati Riders, 2) Bagar Bulls and 3) Godwar Hawks.
The deadlock was resolved based on points differential: +12.6 for the Riders, +10.8 for Bulls and +8.2 for the Hawks.
Bagar Bulls exact revenge
The Bulls were chomping at the bit for a chance to redeem themselves against the Hawks, following a 7-point loss to the same opponents in the earlier League stages.
Bulls sped out of the gates, building a 29-16 lead at the end of the first quarter. Bulls’ defence was spectacular - with 12 steals (as against just 3 for Hawks). Point guard Abbas Ali himself accounted for 8 of these takeaways, besides scoring a team-high 26 points. The Hawks were forced into 18 turnovers, and Hawks’ centre Deepak was restricted to just 14 points, much lower than his League average of 24.8 ppg.
Bulls will now face Shekhawati Riders in the finals, a team they had beaten 60-55 in the League rounds.
In the women’s section, Shekhawati Storms and Mewar Reigns are assured of their final berths, by virtue of each having won their first two games.
