97 Government Jobs Available for Sportspersons in Mumbai Region
Four dedicated positions are reserved for basketball players under the sports quota in Income Tax Department recruitment drive.
The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, has released a notification inviting applications from meritorious athletes for recruitment under the sports quota for the year 2025–26.
A total of 97 vacancies have been announced across multiple posts in the Mumbai region.
Sports Quota Recruitment
The recruitment drive covers appointments to the posts of:
Stenographer Grade-II (12 vacancies)
Tax Assistant (47 vacancies)
Multi-Tasking Staff (38 vacancies)
Eligible candidates may apply for one or more posts through a single online application, provided they meet the stated eligibility criteria mentioned in the PDF below.
Applications are open to sportspersons from 16 recognised sports disciplines, with vacancies distributed as follows:

As per the selection policy, first preference will be given to candidates who have represented India at international competitions with the Department of Sports' approval.
Subsequent preferences apply to national, inter-university, Khelo India, and other recognised competitions, as notified by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
How to Apply
Applicants are required to carefully read the notification, fill in the application form (provided in the PDF), upload all necessary documents related to education and sports achievements, indicate post preferences clearly, and pay an application fee of ₹200.
The last date for submission of applications is January 31, 2026.
