The 73rd Senior National Basketball Championship 2023 tipped off yesterday in Ludhiana.
The Championship is being held from Dec 3 to 10.
There are 64 teams in total: 34 in the men’s section and 30 in women’s.
Groupings
Returning to the classic format (after experimenting with an inter-Zonal format last year), the teams have been divided into two Levels 1 & 2. Level 1 features the top 10 teams split into two Groups A & B. Level 2 comprises the remaining teams evenly distributed betwen Groups C to F.

The games are being played across 4 courts - Court 1 is the main indoor stadium within the Guru Nanak Sports Complex, Court 2 is also an indoor facility a short distance away (although with a cement surface) next to Rakh Bagh Park. Courts 3 and 4 are in Punjab Agricultural University.

The initial league rounds are being live streamed on BFI YouTube Channel and FanCode, while the knockout rounds will be shown only on FanCode.
Defending Champions
At the 72nd Senior National Basketball Championship 2022, held in Udaipur from November 27 to December 4, Punjab men and Indian Railway women triumphed. Punjab men had dethroned Tamil Nadu, while Indian Railway women retained their title, beating Kerala 110-64 in the finals.
Indian Railway men and Delhi women clinched the bronze medals, beating Rajasthan and Karnataka respectively.
