2024 Paris Olympics: Basketball Federation of India's top brass invited as Special Observers
This visit is seen as a vital step in India's long-term vision to not only host the Olympics in 2036 but also to ensure a competitive performance on the international stage.
In a positive move towards elevating India's basketball standards on the global stage, Basketball Federation of India (BFI) President Mr Aadhav Arjuna, Secretary General Mr Kulvinder Singh Gill, National Selection Committee Chairman Mr Shakti Sinh Gohil and BFI advisor Mr Ragothaman, are in attendance at the ongoing Olympic Games as Special Observers.
The delegation's visit is part of a strategic initiative to understand the international benchmarks in basketball, with a specific focus on infrastructure, team preparation, and overall event management.
Speaking exclusively to Ekalavyas, Mr. Aadhav Arjuna emphasized the importance of this visit, stating:
"We are going to observe the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the top 12 teams in the world. Our goal is to gather insights into how these teams prepare, the standards they adhere to, and the infrastructures that support their success. This knowledge is crucial as India gears up for the possibility of hosting the 2036 Olympics."
The BFI aims to use this experience to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance the Indian basketball coaching system and improve administrative practices, including the adoption of advanced technology and software. Mr. Arjuna added, "Our participation in the Olympics is not just about spectating; it's about learning and bringing back valuable insights that will help us elevate Indian basketball to a world-class level."
This visit is seen as a vital step in India's long-term vision to not only host the Olympics in 2036 but also to ensure a competitive performance on the international stage.
