2023 BFI Elections: Landslide victory for Aadhav Arjuna & Co.
Elections were conducted in Delhi, in the presence of observers from FIBA, Government of India and Indian Olympic Association.
After fractious court proceedings that stretched over five months, the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) elections finally concluded yesterday afternoon in Delhi.
Returning Officer Retd. Justice H S Sharma declared Mr Aadhav Arjuna (President, Tamil Nadu Basketball Association), and Madhya Pradesh’s Mr Kulvinder Singh Gill, as the new BFI President and Secretary General, respectively.

The other office-bearers are Mr T Chelgalraya Naidu (Treasurer), Mr Ajay Sud, Mr Donald Steven Wahlang, Dr Lalrinawma Hnamte, Mr Manohara Kumar K, Mr Norman Swaroop Issac, Fr. Ralin De Souza, Smt Seema Sharma (all Vice-Presidents), Mr G Chakravarthi, Mr Munish Sharma, Mr Pradeep Kumar Auddi, Mr Prakash P Sandou and Mr Surya Singh (all Joint Secretaries).
Besides these, Executive Committee members Mr R S Bedi, Mr C Sasidharan, Mr Sentiningsang Longkumer and Mr T Brajbhidu Singh were elected unapposed.
Observers from FIBA (Mr Raffi Kassabian), Government of India (Mr Bangararaju VVKK Thatavarthi) and Indian Olympic Association (Mr Sahdev Yadav) were present.
As reported by various mainstream media platforms, Mr Arjuna won by a landslide margin of 38 out of 39 votes, against outgoing President Mr K Govindaraj.
