2023 Asian Games Basketball: India rosters, schedule & watch details
The 2023 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. Here's everything you need to know about India's participation.
Asia’s premier multi-sport extravaganza is less than a month away. On August 24, India’s Sports Affairs Ministry formally announced a 634-member strong contingent.
In the basketball discipline, India will be sending teams in 5v5 women, and 3x3 men and women.
As per the Sports Ministry’s policy, only Indian teams ranked within top eight in Asia were cleared to participate (subject to certain notable high-performing exceptions like the Indian men’s football team).
This policy means that the Indian men’s 5v5 team will not be competing in the Asian Games.
However, thanks to the introduction of 3x3 as an Olympic sport, Indian men’s basketball will be represented in the shorter half-court format.
Below is the India’s 20-member full basketball squad list:
The upcoming 19th Asian Games was originally supposed to be held in 2022 but was postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
