13th Lourdean All Kerala Inter School Basketball Tournament
*The Lourdean Basketball title was won by St. Ephremes HSS, Mannam and Little Flower HSS*
Kottayam, 27th August, 2016: St. Ephremes HSS, Mannnam in the boys division and Little Flower Koratty in the girls, took the 13th Lourdean Basketball Tournament for Boys and Girls here at Lourdean Public School Court at Kottayam.
In the Sub-Junior division, Lourdes Public School defeated St. Jude Global Public School, Kottayam (23-16).
In the girls final, Little Flower defeated Girideepam Bethany from Kottayam 48-36. In the boys finals, St. Ephremes HSS, with international player Shiras Muhammed (who scored 23 points for his team), trailed 25-26 at halftime and came back to beat Sacred Heart CMI Public School, Thevara 53-43 .
In the girls Semi-Final matches, Little Flower had an easy victory over Mount Carmel 72-37, while Girideepam drubbed Jyothui Nikethan School, 35-4.
In the boys division, St. Ephremes beat SHHHS Changancherry, 52-33. Sacred Heart CMI Public School stunned St. Josephs HSS, 59-52 to enter the final.
In the quarter-final matches St. Ephremes had to fight against Shanthal Jyothi, Muttam 70-66. Girideepam finished against GVHSS Kannur 36-35. St. Thomas HSS and St Josephs Pulicunnu had an even contest.
The Closing function was a colourful one, with the presence of Dronacharya Award winner K P Thomas who gave away the prizes to boys while Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan (former Sports Minister of Kerala) gave prizes to the girls. Olympian Shiny Wilson inaugurated the closing function.
